Location

Magdeburg is a large city with more than 240 thousand inhabitants and a healthy age structure. As a top-ranking science location, around 19 thousand students live here. The city has evolved from heavy engineering to a city of science, although heavy engineering still provides the most jobs alongside companies in communications and environmental technology and the creative industries. With the help of the city, the old commercial port has been transformed into a science port with a "think tank" where many innovative companies are based. New paths are being taken and new interesting fields of work have emerged. Magdeburg designers receive awards, even fashion is made here. Culture and nature lovers get their money's worth. The Elbe with its parks and beach bars, walking and cycling paths is a leisure magnet. The zoo and Neustädter See lake are within sight. Due to the large number of young people, a lively pub scene has developed around Hasselbachplatz in the old town in particular. Theaters and cabarets, museums, parks and lots of water make for a distinct cultural life in the city. There is simply never a dull moment here.
